New York Gets OK To Test Thousands A Day For Covid-19 New York will soon be conducting thousands of tests for coronavirus after receiving the green light from the federal government to outsource testing to private labs. Gov. Andrew Cuomo said during a briefing on Friday, March 13, that as soon as the middle of next week, the state may have the ability to conduct approximately 6,000 tests per day, which “would be a dramatic increase for us.” In total, 28 private labs throughout the state will have access to both manual and automated testing, if they have the capacity. Bridgeport Man, 21, Charged With First-Degree Rape In NY, Police Say A 21-year-old Fairfield County man wanted on a charge of first-degree rape is behind bars after turning himself into to New York State Police. Lucas C. Xavier, of Brookfield, is accused of forcible sexual intercourse with an unwilling party, state police said. The incident occurred in the town of Woodbury in Orange County, state police said.  Xavier was charged with first-degree rape, a Class B felony after he turned himself in at the state police barracks in Monroe for processing.  Xavier was arraigned and subsequently remanded to Orange County Jail on $10,000 USD Cash bail…

Flood Advisory: New Round Of Thunderstorms Sweep Through Area A new round of thunderstorms sweeping through the area Tuesday night has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Flash Flood Warnings and Flood Advisories for the region.  The Flash Flood Warning, for Westchester, Rockland and Orange counties, is in effect until 9:45 p.m. Tuesday.
