Greenwich Fire Truck Crashes After Police Car Burns Down It's been a rough few weeks for emergency vehicles in one Connecticut town.  Last month, a Greenwich Police SUV was destroyed when a brush fire engulfed the vehicle, reducing it to its metal frame. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. This week, a Greenwich fire truck responding to a call crashed on Lake Avenue. Engine 8 lost control on Thursday morning, Dec. 5, while en route to another crash caused by "wintry weather." No other vehicles were involved in the incident.  The firefighters aboard were transported to a local hospital as a precaution and have since been released.

Customer Injured When Car Drives Through Front Of Area Big Y Supermarket, Police Say One person was injured after a car hit a Big Y supermarket in Fairfield County. The incident took place in Stratford around 11:56 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 16, when Stratford Police responded to the store on Hawley Lane to investigate a car that struck the building, said Stratford Police Capt. Frank Eannotti. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a car had driven through the front bay door and struck a customer, he said. The injured customer was transported to a local hospital with non- life-threatening injuries. The incident is still under investigation.

5-Year-Old Drowns In Fairfield County Backyard Pool, Police Say This story has been updated. A 5-year-old child is dead after drowning in the family's backyard pool in Fairfield County, police said. Police were called to the home on Sunnybank Avenue in Stratford for a report of a child drowned in the pool on Tuesday, July 3, said Capt. Frank Eannotti. When officers arrived on scene, they performed CPR until EMS arrived and transported the child to a local hospital, where the child died. Eannotti said the family has asked for privacy and no other details will be released.
