Helen Coris, 92, Of Beacon
BEACON, N.Y. – Helen Coris, a longtime resident of Beacon, died Thursday, June 23. She was 92.
Born May 6, 1924, in Jersey City, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Harry and Evangelia Katsaros Parapoulos.
Together with her husband and children, she owned and operated Dutchess Manor. She was a member of the Dutchess Junction Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary for more than 40 years, a member of St. Nicholas Philiptchos and a member of Eastern Star for 67 years.

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Helen V. Murphy, a resident of Poughkeepsie, died Friday, June 24. She was 94.
Born Jan.19, 1922, in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of Thomas and Helen Czaplinski.
She graduated from Arlington High School and was a member of the National Honor Society. She attended the University of Oklahoma and the University of Florida at Coral Gables. She worked for the state Army Ordinance Division with an office at IBM until, in 1942, she joined the Women’s Army Corps in the U.S. Army. This later became the U.S. Air Force and she was an Air WAC.

BEACON, N.Y. – Mary A. Sholdis, a lifelong resident of Beacon, died Saturday, June 25. She was 92.
Born Aug.19, 1923, in Beacon, she was the daughter of the late Michael J. and Anna V. Turchik Sholdis.
She retired as an executive secretary at IBM in Poughkeepsie. She was a parishioner of St. Joachim – St. John the Evangelist Church. She was a former member of St. John’s Seniors and Catholic Daughters.

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Antonio Balbo, a resident of Poughkeepsie, died Wednesday, June 22. He was 87.
Born Jan.4,1929, in Teggiano, Italy, he was the son of the late Angelo and Rosa Balbo.
On Aug.13,1955, in Pompeii, Italy, he married Maria DiBrizzi.
He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean war. He was the owner of Tony's Pizza Pit in Poughkeepsie, New York. He was a local resident since 1971, he previously resided in Brooklyn and Italy. LODI, N.J. –Katherine Joan Russo, a resident of Lodi, died Monday, June 20. She was 94.
Born in Paterson to the late Dominick and Fortunate Gaeta, she possessed God-given talent at an early age. She was a singer and sang under the name Kay Gaylord. She enjoyed a remarkable career as a big band singer, sang on the radio, made recordings and performed in clubs in the tri-state area. In addition, during World War II she toured and did USO shows.

BERGENFIELD, N.J. – Edward D. Duke, a resident of Bergenfield, died Tuesday, June 21. He was 85.
He was born Oct. 13, 1931, in Englewood. He lived his entire life in Bergenfield, where he also worked as a Department of Public Works employee for almost 40 years. He was a member of the U.S. National Guard.
