Unbeatens to Battle in State Finals

The New Canaan High School girls tennis team swept No. 4 seed Amity High, 7-0, in the Class L state semifinals. That win puts New Canaan into the championship match Friday against No. 2 seed Glastonbury. Both teams are undefeated. New Canaan is 22-0 on the year, and Glastonbury is 18-0 and advanced with a 4-3 win over Greenwich. The match will be held at Yale University at 3 p.m.

The New Canaan results over Amity were: 

#1 Singles: Kate Mannelly vs. Jessica Seidman, 6-3, 6-3

#2 Singles: Courtney Gallagher vs. Dina Weick, 6-3, 6-2

#3 Singles: Caitlin Gallagher vs. Robyn Warren, 6-1, 6-0

#4 Singles: Jensen Lee vs. Claire Foster, 7-6 (7-3), 7-5 

#1 Doubles: Kimmy Glerum/Sara Greene vs. Alisha Roopchand/Bayla Weick, 6-3, 6-3

#2 Doubles: Amanda Merjian/Kristin Laub vs. Kayla Barrett/Kayla Prete, 6-0, 6-1  

#3 Doubles: Phoebe Wilks/Kate Howard vs. Stephanie Foster/Jordie Herskowitz, 6-1, 6-3
