Trinity Football Rebuilds After Losing Big Names

STAMFORD, Conn. — The first word Trinity Catholic head coach Pete Stoke's said when asked to describe the 2010 season was "disappointing." The Crusaders were picked by many pundits in the preseason to be a dark-horse team that could contend. Fullback Mike Rivas and wide receiver Shawn Robinson were among the talented players who made that seem possible.

But Trinity slogged through the toughest first half of any team in the conference and wound up with a 3-7 record. Despite the poor record, the Crusaders ranked sixth in the conference in points scored with 313.

In the accompanying video, Stokes discusses how Trinity hopes to overcome the loss of some talented seniors. He also talks about the Crusaders' schedule and their goals for the season.

Trinity Catholic begins its season with a three-game road trip, starting with Westhill on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 1:30 p.m. Trinity also takes on New Canaan, Harding, Stamford, Fairfield Warde and Darien on the road. The Crusaders will host Norwalk, Bassick, St. Joseph and Wilton on Thanksgiving Day.
