Runners, Mark Your Weekend Racing Calendar!

So where are you running off to this weekend? Or cycling or swimming? For Fairfield County's recreational athletes, several Main Street Connect communities and nearby towns will host races and triathlons to satisfy all ages and abilities.

The racing weekend kicks off Friday in Greenwich with the Cook Your Buns 3-mile race at Tod's Point. There are no area races Saturday, but on Sunday runners can choose between races in New Canaan and Wilton. The Trifitness Seaside Sprint Triathlon takes place Sunday in Bridgeport, and the Greenwich Kids Triathlon begins at 8 a.m. at Greenwich High Schol.

The Cook Your Buns race is one of the most popular events on the Fairfield County running calendar. Last year's race featured 468 finishers, and was won by Stamford's Anatolie Vartosu. The event also features a kids race and post-race barbecue. The event is sponsored by Threads and Treads.

On Sunday in Wilton, the Chamber of Commerce hosts the sixth annual Georgetown Gallop 5K. New Canaan High School will host the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation 5K beginning at 9 a.m.

The Greenwich Kids Triathlon is for children ages 7-12. Children are asked to arrive by 7 a.m. to set up equipment.

Adults can journey to Seaside Park in Bridgeport for the Trifitness Seaside Sprint beginning at 6:30 a.m. The race is a half-mile swim, 10-mile bike and 3.1-mile run. Easton's Ian Ray won last year's race, and Stamford's Megan Kelly was the first women. A new triathlon debuts in Westport next week and the Stamford KIC It Triathlon follows at the end of the month.
