Norwalk Man Wins Ridgefield Duathlon

Norwalk's Eneas Freyre won Ridgefield’s Simply Du It Duathlon, taking just over one hour to complete the Sunday run-bike-run event. He led a field of 144 finishers.

Freyre, who owns Targetraining in Westport, finished in 1:00:21.352. The race consisted of a 2.5-mile run, a 13-mile ride and a 2.5-mile run. It was Freyre's last competition before the Duathlon World Championships Saturday in Spain.

Freyre's victory capped a strong day by athletes from Main Street Connecticut communities. Darien's Barry McMaster took sixth and finished first in the men's 35-39 age group. Westport's Paul Greenberg won the men's 50-54 age group, and Westport's Christina Thomson claimed second among women. Tammy Kiernan of Norwalk was first among women 35-39. New Canaan's Bob Goldblatt won the men's 70-and-over age group. Complete results are available online.
