Norwalk-Based Cheer Team Creates New Squads

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Norwalk-based Xtreme Cheer, coming off a season in which three teams achieved top 20 rankings in the United States, is expanding its number of squads for the upcoming year.

Xtreme has added three teams, bringing its total number of squads to seven. The  additional teams are in response to increased demand and a new facility in Hopewell Junction, N.Y.

In its final competition for 2011-2012, three teams competed at the U.S. Finals in Providence, R.I. Blaze, a Senior Coed Level 3 team, won its division in Providence and finished third out of 49 teams in the country. Shimmer finished second in Providence and 16th out of 58 teams in the nation in Junior Level 3. Shine placed second in the Providence and 20th out of 103 teams in the national in Senior Level 2. The U.S. Finals has championships in seven regions. The national rankings are determined from point totals achieved in the various regions.

Xtreme includes cheerleaders from many different communities in Fairfield County. The teams are coached by Dana and Mike Talbot. Tryouts for next year’s teams have been completed, but arrangements can be made for personal tryouts by contacting Xtreme at xtremecheerct@gmail.com
