Easton Trainer Named Top Triathlete

EASTON, Conn. – Easton’s Chris Thomas has been named 2011 male triathlete of the year by Timex.

Thomas, 40, owner of Personal Training Professionals of Southport, was named USA Triathlon Amateur Athlete of the Year 2009 and is a nine-time USA Triathlon All-American. He has finished first among amateurs in more than 25 triathlons, including Ironman 70.3 Rhode Island from 2008 to 2011 and the Ironman 70.3 Mooseman 2011. In 2010, he trained New York Giants great Amani Toomer for the New York City Marathon.

“I was very surprised and honored to win the award this year," Thomas said. "The Timex team has so many top level athletes. I have been a member of the Timex Multisport team since 2003 and it is a privilege to be a part of such a wonderful organization."

Thomas lives in Easton with his wife and three children, and coaches triathlon for Lifesport coaching. He received the award in a ceremony at the TIMEX Performance Center in East Rutherford, N.J., the training facility and corporate headquarters of the New York Giants.
