Norwalk Mourns Death Of Retired Police Dog Nomak

NORWALK, Conn. -- Retired police dog Nomak died Dec. 10 from myelopathy, the Norwalk Police Department announced. He was 9 years old.

Nomak began his service with the police department in May 2006 and retired in January 2012.

During his service, Nomak and his handler, Andy Kovlakas, assisted in several narcotics arrests and were named the department's Officers of the Month in May 2007.

After retiring, Nomak stayed with Kovlakas and his family.
