Mildred Choyce, 82, Norwalk Senior Center Member

NORWALK, Conn. – Mildred Rose Banks Choyce of Norwalk died Aug. 2 at Norwalk Hospital. She was 82. 

Born Sept. 26, 1929, in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of William and Mildred Morrissey Banks. She graduated from Norwalk High School in 1947 and was a founding member of St. Philip Church. 

Choyce was married to John "Jack" D. Choyce, who died in November 2002. They were married for 52-and-a-half years. She was a former president of St. Philip Women's Society. She also served on the parish counsel five times and was an active member of St. Philip Senior Group.  

She was a member and volunteer at the Norwalk Senior Center. She was awarded Volunteer of the Year by the center in 1994. Choyce and her late husband were members and volunteers of the Norwalk Wilton AARP 3929, where they were awarded Volunteers of the Year in 1997.  

Choyce is survived by two sons, J. David (Brenda) Choyce, of Norwalk, and Michael (Cindy) Choyce, of Bethel; a daughter, Nancy LaRosa, of Norwalk; and seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. 

Calling hours were held Sunday at Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home and Crematory. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Monday morning at St. Philip Church in Norwalk.
