NORWALK, Conn. Frances Gold Lind of Rowayton died July 24 at Norwalk Hospital. She was 68.
The daughter of Eva and Otto Gold, she was born in Ottawa, Canada. Lind later moved to Rowayton, where she lived for many years.
She was a runner-up in Junior Canadians figure skating and second in Senior Canadian Figures. Lind ranked fourth overall in the Senior Canadian Nationals at the age of 13. She was a member of the North American and world teams and an alternate for the Canadian Olympic Team in 1961.
Her father, Otto Gold, was a Hall of Fame skating coach, who contributed to the success of many Canadian and American skaters internationally.
Lind founded Skate Darien, where she taught and coached children of all ages. Up until August of 2011, she was coaching full-time figures, moves in the field and freestyle, at Stamford Twin Rinks in Stamford.
In addition to her love for skating, Lind was an accomplished interior decorator. She also enjoyed the beach, antique shopping and spending time with her family. Her husband of 40 years, Ronald A. Lind, predeceased her.
Lind is survived by three children, Peirson (Jessica) Flynn, of Norwalk, Kristin Flynn (Mike) Rogers, of Newport, R.I. and Eric Lind, of Redding and two grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Neil P. Flynn.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Benedictine Grange, 49 Dorethy Road, Redding, CT 06896. A reception will follow at Redding Road House.
