NORWALK, Conn. -- Wednesday, Jan. 1, is a federal holiday. Here's a look at what will be open and what will be closed in Norwalk on New Year's Day.

Government offices will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 1 in honor of New Year's Day.

What's closed:

  • Norwalk City Hall.
  • The Post Office
  • The Norwalk and South Norwalk libraries.
  • There will be no city garbage or recyclables pick up. 
  • The transfer station on Crescent Street.
  • All Norwalk Public schools. 

What's open:

  • The Maritime Aquarium will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Bowtie Cinemas on North Main Street and Westport Avenue will be open regular hours New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
  • Stew Leonard’s will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. New Year’s Day.
  • Check with individual restaurants and retail outlets for any special holiday hours on Wednesday.
