Limone, daughter of Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling, was granted the license in 2002, The Hour reported. She hadn't had any disciplinary issues until this spring.
During an inspection in March, the center was found to have too many children, according to The Hour, and then Limone "slammed doors and directed obscenities at the inspector" during a surprise reinspection, in May.
Because Limone voluntarily surrendered the license, the Office of Early Childhood won't hold a full hearing, The Hour reported. It also means she can reapply at any time, instead of having to wait a year, if the agency had revoked her license.
The Connecticut State Police is investigating the baby's death, and the medical examiner has not released a cause of death pending the completion of more tests, The Hour noted.
