NORWALK, Conn. -- The Human Services Council of Norwalk celebrated mentors and mentees of the Norwalk Mentor Program with a special evening at Stepping Stones Museum on Thursday, Jan. 29. The celebration was in observance of National Mentoring Month.
The first school-based mentoring program in the country, the Norwalk Mentor Program currently has 220 students matched with a mentor in the Norwalk Public Schools.
The evening allowed mentors to get together outside of the school setting with their mentee and gave them an opportunity to meet their mentee’s family.
In addition to the museum exhibits and activities, those who attended enjoyed a light dinner provided by Mike’s Deli, had their photos taken by Capitol Photo Booths and listened to live music provided by SoNo Entertainment, including an original song written just for the Norwalk Mentor Program. Several mentees of the program performed as well.
