Norwalk-Based Foundation Hires Finance VP

NORWALK, Conn. – Joseph R. Baker is the Fairfield County Community Foundation's new vice president of finance and administration. Previously the director of finance and administration at the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain, Baker brings 25 years of experience in nonprofit management and finance to the Norwalk-based foundation. He has also served as an executive director of the United Way in Meriden and Wallingford, was co-executive director of Fellowship Place in New Haven, and has held positions at several other nonprofits.

Baker received his bachelor's degree from Colby College and his master's degree in public and private management from the Yale School of Organization and Management. A longtime North Haven resident, Baker volunteers for his church as well as the Friends of North Haven Soccer. He and his wife, Maria, have three children, Lily, Enrique and Daniel.

The Fairfield County Community Foundation promotes the growth of community and regional philanthropy to improve the quality of life throughout Fairfield County. Individuals, families, corporations and organizations can establish charitable funds or contribute to existing funds. The foundation has awarded $123 million in grants to nonprofits in Fairfield County and beyond.
