Local Actors To Star in Shakespeare's 'Errors'

STAMFORD, Conn. — Local actors will once again strut about the stage of a re-incarnated Globe Theater for the eighth annual Shakespeare on the Green at Stamford’s Sterling Farms Golf Course. This year’s performance is “The Comedy of Errors.”

"Outdoor Shakespeare is a terrific way to introduce audiences to the works of Shakespeare," Lou Ursone, executive director of Curtain Call and producer of Shakespeare on the Green said in a press release. "The casual atmosphere makes the entire event less intimidating, more accessible and ultimately more enjoyable.”

The group will tell William Shakespeare’s classic tale of two sets of twins who were separated at birth and meet later in life. In a twist, the action takes place in the gangster world of 1920s New York. The actors hail from Stamford, Darien, Norwalk, Westport, Mamaroneck and Pleasantville.

The series kicks off Friday, July 8, at 7:30 p.m. and continues July 8-10 and July 13-16, the release said. The park will open at 6 p.m. each day, and parking is available at Davenport Ridge School.

The concerts are free, but contributions will be accepted. Food and drinks can be purchased on-site or pre-ordered from the Royal Green. Alcohol will not be allowed on the site.
