Greenwich Yacht Show To Benefit the Sound

GREENWICH, Conn. — Restoring and protecting Long Island Sound will be the goal as the Delamar Greenwich Harbor partners with Audubon Greenwich for the Greenwich Harbor Yacht Showcase fundraiser.

The Greenwich Harbor Yacht Showcase on Sept. 10 and 11 invites families and visitors free of charge to view yachts and to engage in free activities such as kayaking and canoeing. Fly fishing demos and live animal shows will be held. The Audubon Greenwich Nature Exploration Station will be set up to educate youth about the Sound and the importance of protecting it.

Half of the proceeds from the Sept. 9 preview party at the Delamar will be donated to Audubon Greenwich. Admission to the event, from 6 to 8 p.m., is $75.

Yachts on view will include Sunseeker Club, Maestro Apreamare, Sarnico Yachts, Brooklin Boat Yard, All Seasons Marine Works, Friendship Yachts, Hinckley Yachts and many more.

On view will also be the famous Rondine Corvette Coupe concept car, originally shown at the 1963 Paris Motor Show. The Rondine remained in the Pininfarina Museum for nearly 45 years and was shown on few occasions until Michael Schudroff of Carriage House Motor Cars purchased it three years ago for his personal collection.

Other land activities will include a fall fashion show by Saks Fifth Avenue and refreshments from area restaurants and caterers.

This year’s sponsors are Delamar Greenwich Harbor, Carriage House Motor Cars, Sunseeker Club, Maestro Apreamare, Sarnico Yachts, Trump Parc Stamford and Vinylume. Media Sponsors include The Advocate/Greenwich Time, Brooks Community Newspapers, Quest, Serendipity, Venu, WindCheck and WGCH-AM 1490.
