Fairfield County Cancer Drive Nears $1M Goal

STAMFORD, Conn. — The Bennett Cancer Center is close to reaching its goal of collecting $1 million from its Hope in Motion fundraisers. To date, more than $920,000 has been raised, and donations will continue to be taken until Sept. 30.

“Every year we are blown away by the effort our patients, their families and the entire community makes to support the Cancer Center, and it is because of them that our $1 million goal is well within reach,” said Liz Manfredo, director of Cancer Services at the Bennett Cancer Center, said in a press release.

More than 4,500 people participated in the 16th annual event on Sunday, June 5, in downtown Stamford. All proceeds go directly to cancer center patients and their families.

Hope in Motion will be the theme for the Stamford Hospital’s cancer fundraising effort for the rest of the year. Anyone can hold or participate in a fundraising event. Many Fairfield County residents have already taken up grassroots efforts to help the cancer center.

“The level of dedication and participation from people from all over Fairfield County is simply proof that cancer has touched so many lives here,” Erin O’Toole, manager of Hope in Motion, said in the release.
