Artists Take Illustrations to the Street

Traffic signal boxes became artists’ canvases painted with interpretations of favorite library books. A joint project between the Norwalk Public Library and the Norwalk Arts Commission, “Traffic Graphic” turned the dull gray boxes into colorful illustrations of favorite stories.

Professional artists Will Corprew, Jahmane West and Duvian Montoya painted the boxes. Their illustrations depict the Aesop fable “The Boy Who Cried Wolf," Maurice Sendak’s children’s classic “Where the Wild Things Are” and Gabriel García Márquez’s novel “One Hundred Years of Solitude.”
