The four-race series of increasing distances is used by runners of all ages to prepare for spring marathons and other endurance events. In cool, damp and foggy conditions last January, 321 runners finished the 10-kilometer opening leg of the series.
Sunday's 10k race begins at 10 a.m. at Brien McMahon High School in Norwalk. Check-in begins at 9 a.m.
Other races in the series are:
- Sunday, Jan. 17, 15k (9.3 miles), Scotland Elementary School, Ridgefield, 9 a.m.
- Sunday, Feb. 7, 20k (12.4 miles), Tomlinson Middle School, Fairfield, 9 a.m.
- Sunday, Feb. 28, 25k (15.5 miles), Fox Run Elementary School, Norwalk, 9 a.m.
Kevin Hoyt of Newtown won last year's 10k, while Mary Zengo paced the women's field.
