John Stump's "Piglet"

John Stump is a Navy "rug rat" who lived all around the world as a kid and got used to the idea of smaller cars. "I lived in Japan and traveled through Europe where micro cars and trucks were common," he says.  Now he's got a tiny car all his own, a 2009 Smart car he calls Piglet. "I love being behind the wheel and will drive anything that I am comfortable in. I have owned several cars and trucks, compact and full sized," he says.

Stump is part of a dedicated group of New England Smart car owners, many of whom bought their cars at Smart Cars of Fairfield. They take their micro wheels very, very seriously--not only blogging about every tiny detail of their tiny cars, but also getting together for group drives from Stamford to New Hampshire. Stump--like most passionate Smart drivers--loves the fuel efficiency and the distinction of driving a car that not only takes up very little room but also gets some stares. "Tiny, fun, designed with above average safety in mind, and I fit inside with out hitting my head."
