Get Dolled Up at a Special Kind of Trunk Show

Suzanne Stillwell and her daughter, Jeanna, make it their business to keep your kiddos looking good. Their Stamford children’s boutique, Kaleidoscope, is a style emporium for the infant to the ‘tween set. But it isn’t just their miniature fashion sense that sets them apart; it’s the creativity with which they approach their business and the fun they and their customers have along the way. April 2 and 3, all of it is on display at their first ever American Girl Doll trunk show. They’ll showcase dozens and dozens of their originally designed outfits for American Girl Dolls, along with some matching looks for your little dolls.

“My daughter did the whole American Girl thing,” explains Suzanne of her now 17-year-old daughter. “And we did the whole day in the city at the store, but that takes some major planning. This is local. It’s easy and it’s fun. We have clothes and accessories for the dolls, and lots of coordinating outfits for the girls. Plus pink lemonade and cupcakes.”

Suzanne purchased the store five years ago. Since then, she and her daughter have been hard at work making it one of the most playfully fashionable destinations in Fairfield County. “I left a career in sales and marketing to run this store,” Suzanne says. “I wanted to be home more with Jeanna, so we made a deal that she would help me. And she does. She’s really creative and artistic. She has such an eye. She comes with me to the trade shows. It’s a lot of work,” she laughs, “But together we have so much fun.”

So, what should your daughter expect to find at this trunk show? “The core group of American Girl Doll fans is really aged five to eight or nine. We have tons of outfits for the dolls, and a lot of coordinating pieces for girls. We also have pajamas for the dolls, so girls can have pajama parties with their dolls.  We have dressier looks too, for girls who like to dress up their dolls for parties or play fashion show.”

Whether it’s trunk show for dolls or photos with the Easter Bunny, Suzanne and Jeanna like to treat their customers to a broader, livelier shopping experience. “We always have something going on here,” says Suzanne. “In the springtime, especially.”

Introduce yourself and your little dolls to Suzanne and Jeanna during their American Girl Doll trunk show, Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3, from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. And don’t forget your camera, because it doesn’t get much cuter than this. Kaleidoscope is located at 67 High Ridge Road, in the Bulls Head Shopping Center in Stamford.
