Fabric Store Goes the Final Yard

Ron Aparicio and Christina Spano's welcoming smiles make the trip to Ruben's Decorative Fabrics in Stamford totally worthwhile. From the minute you walk through the door, they guide you through a varied assortment of fabrics, and give you free decorating advice on how best to create the perfect window treatments for your home.

Ron's father, Ruben, immigrated to this country from Peru, bringing his upholstery skills with him. He opened his custom workroom in Stamford 30 years ago and raised seven sons, who are all still involved in the furniture business. Ron, the youngest son, took over the family upholstery business and prides himself on providing top-notch service to clients.

"We're here to help," he told me. "We'll come to your home and measure your windows at no charge, and then we'll help you pick the style of window treatment and the fabric."

Ruben's carries all of Duralee, Robert Allen and Kravet's fabric lines. In addition, they carry bolts of discontinued fabrics, which are sold at deep discounts. Anyone having a sofa or chair re-upholstered gets a discount of up to 50% on the fabric, another good reason to visit Ron and Christina.

Ruben's is at 35 Magee Avenue in Stamford, just south of I-95. Telephone: (203) 977-7880.
