Stars Shine in Return to Playhouse

Actors Blythe Danner and Keir Dullea return to Westport Playhouse in the show they took to Broadway in 1969, "Butterflies are Free." The play originated in Westport 41 years ago and went on to New York where it ran for over three years, earning Danner a Tony Award. Now the stars return to the Playhouse, Keir Dullea as the evening's host and Blythe Danner performing the role of the over-protective mother, in a reading of "Butterflies are Free."  Joining Danner on-stage are Jonathan Groff ("Glee," "Spring Awakening") as the self-reliant sightless man;  Betty Gilpin ("Ghost Town," "That Face") as the free-spirited actress who tries to help him break from his mother's smothering influence and Andrew Grusetskie ("Around the World in 80 Days") as the playboy director. The reading is directed by Mark Shanahan and begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15. A special post-show reception with cast members is available for a $100 80th Anniversary Celebration donation.
