Festival Italiano Fixes on Flavorful Fun

It's more than a fair, kind of a carnival, sometimes a stage show and definitely a ton of fun. It's the Festival Italiano. Even if you hate bumper cars, ferris wheels, dunk tanks, roller coasters and fun houses, come for the food! It's fantastic. From fish specialties (lobsters and clam chowder) to Italian favorites (pizza, brucetta, zeppole and funnel cakes)  to dishes of all kinds prepared by local restaurants (Bobby Q's brings its big-time ribs) save up your calorie stipends and spend them here. Sit outdoors and listen to the Festival's line-up of colorful performers (after you've had a delicious dinner, of course.) This year's entertainment includes performances by Tony Reno Band, The Legends, The Del Rays, Deja Vu, the Duprees and Tony Costas, Emil Stucchio and The Brooklyn Reunion. Afterwards, if you're lucky, you will have worked up an appetite. The Festival takes place at Luciano Park, Westport. Admission is $5. Hours are: Thursday, July 8 and Friday, July 9, 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday, July 10, noon to 11 p.m. and Sunday, July 11, noon to 10 p.m. For more information, visit the Festival's website.
