Feast at Labor Day's Fish & Ships

Eau de cookouts mixed with a soupcon of fall fragrance is Labor Day weekend's special smell. But this holiday a fresh fish feast aroma is also wafting because Labor Day weekend is Mystic Seaport's annual Fish & Ships. On September 4-6, load your plate with tantalizing seafood, served next to the water and follow up with family fun. Classic and colorful meals to choose from include a lobster bake, peel and eat shrimp, fried seafood even Angus burgers for the meat set. Afterwards, join in 19th Century games, or climb aboard and explore Mystic's historic tall ships and other vessels. If you feel the urge to be a captain, you can rent a sail or row boat at the boathouse. Someone else does the driving when you opt to cruise down the Mystic River on the 100 year-old, coal-fired steamboat, Sabino. Whatever you choose from the Seaport's post-feast activities' menu, the Fish & Ships festival will leave you feeling your Labor Day weekend was tasty and filling.
