TJ Maxx in Norwalk, which is renting space in a former supermarket, could play a role in food giant A&P’s bankruptcy case, according to a report in supermarketnews.com

The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co., which filed for bankruptcy earlier this year, is seeking court approval for a plan which would net it $28 million, the report said.

According to the report, the Montvale, N.J.-based company is asking the court handling its Chapter 11 case to give it the go-ahead on the sales of 10 “sandwich” leases.

Those subletted leases, the news outlet said, cover empty A&P spaces now rented to other stores like the TJ Maxx in Norwalk.
