Explosion, Fire At CT Home Kills 1; Police To Conduct Controlled Demolition A Connecticut house explosion and fire over the weekend left a 56-year-old man dead, authorities said.  The explosion was reported on Horseshoe Drive in Waterbury around 5:45 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, police said. Responders pulled the man from the burning home, and paramedics rushed him to Saint Mary's Hospital, where he died of his injuries on Monday morning.  Officers are investigating what caused the explosion. Driver Cut From Wreckage Following Horrific Crash On I-95 In Westport Firefighters in Connecticut had to cut a driver from their car following a serious crash early Saturday morning, Jan. 12.  The crash happened just after 3 p.m. on I-95 near Exit 18 in Westport.  Photos of the crash, show a mangled car that seemed no one would survive, but Westport firefighters were able to cut them from the wreckage to rush them to an area hospital.  Authorities did not release the driver's name or their condition.  Little is known about the cause of the crash, but Westport police are investigating the cause.
