A 53-year-old woman has been charged with DUI after police say she crossed the double-yellow line while driving in New Canaan.
New Canaan Police say they responded to the area of White Oak Shade Road near Farm Road on a report of an erratic driver that had crossed over the double-yellow line on Tuesday, Aug. 20 around 4:30 p.m.
The driver also failed to obey several stop signs and was stopped for an extended period of time in the road, police say.
Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop after allegedly observing the driver travel eastbound on Lakeview Avenue in the westbound lane.
While speaking with the driver, identified as Natalie Romo, 53, of New Canaan, police say she was showing signs of intoxication.
Romo was asked to participate in a series of field sobriety tests, which police say she did not pass.
Romo was arrested and charged with illegal operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs and failure to drive on right. She was released after posting $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
