The discussion will cover the difference between early decision versus regular decision, financial aid and merit scholarships, athletics and other extracurricular activities, and the GPA, SAT and ACT importance in the admissions process.
Admissions representatives from Dickinson College, Franklin & Marshall, Rhodes College, Union College and the University of Vermont will be the panelists.
High school freshmen, sophomores, juniors and their parents are invited.
Competitive Edge College Advisors specializes in helping students navigate the admissions process, and this is the third panel discussion they have sponsored.
Their aim is to help students focus on key tasks at the appropriate time and sidestepping pitfalls that could create stress, cut corners and less than optimal results.
“We work very hard at finding schools that are a complete fit for the student, both in and out of the classroom. Our goal is to help each student find the edge which will allow him or her gain acceptance to the top schools of their choice,” said Doug Richardson, one of four partners in the company.
The company was founded in 2013 by Brent Haney, Lee Jones, Kevin Rusch and Richardson.
The Outback Center is located behind the New Canaan Town Hall and is accessible through the Park Street parking lot entrance.
Admission is free, but reservations are required as space is limited.
