Storm Power Outages: These Areas In Connecticut Most Affected By Damaging Winds, Downed Trees

Damaging winds causing downed trees and tree limbs are causing widespread power outages throughout Connecticut.

At around 7:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, around 70,000 customers in the state were without, according to Eversource, United Illuminated, and Norwich Public Utilities.

The location with the most outages in the state is Shelton, with 2,738, accounting for more than half of the outages in United Illuminating's coverage area.

Roughly 65,000 are being reported by Eversource, with the most in these municipalities:

  • Guilford, 1,866
  • Coventry, 1,632
  • Waterbury, 1,610
  • Bethel, 1,549
  • Watertown, 1,488
  • Haddam, 1,487
  • Redding, 1,385
  • Canterbury, 1,352
  • Montville, 1,327
  • Colchester, 1,293
  • Greenwich, 1,277
  • Salem, 1,263
  • Mansfield, 1,214
  • Ridgefield, 1,187
  • Avon, 1,128
  • Madison, 1,198
  • Durham, 1,104
  • Killingly, 1,089
  • Simsbury, 1,012
  • Tolland, 1,055
