The Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) announced a Connecticut woman has tested positive for the first case of the West Nile virus this year. The woman is a resident of New Haven County and is between 50 and 59 years old, DPH said. She became ill during the third week of July with West Nile fever and has since recovered. Mosquitoes trapped in four Connecticut communities have tested positive for West Nile virus, state officials announced. The State of Connecticut Mosquito Management Program reported that some of the positive mosquitoes were found in three Fairfield County communities: Stamford, Darien, and Fairfield. Mosquitoes carrying the West Nile virus have been confirmed in a Connecticut park, officials announced. The City of Hartford reported this week that two mosquitoes trapped at Keney Park on Tuesday, Sept. 14 tested positive for the virus. Two people in Connecticut have tested positive for the West Nile Virus. The Connecticut Department of Public Health announced Tuesday, Aug. 31, that two Connecticut residents from New Haven and Fairfield counties have tested positive for the virus; the first two cases this season.
