Middlesex County staple Higgies, located in Higganum at 236 Saybrook Rd. (Route 154) reopened to the public on Thursday, April 22, the owners announced on social media.

After the current owners took the reigns of the eatery in 2020, it was forced to again suddenly close in June 2022 when issues arose with the building's owner.

Now that "financial situations and legal matters" have been sorted out though, the restaurant is once again able to operate, the owners said on Facebook.

They also added that since reopening Higgies, they have made countless connections with people who have been visiting the eatery for generations and are excited to resume serving them.

"We had GENERATIONS of families telling us of when now grandparents came as kids with their parents and were now bringing their grand-babies to indulge in a pastime of fond memories," they wrote on social media, adding, "Over the 3 years we made so many connections with customers that became regulars."

"We hope you will accept us back with open arms because we sure have missed everyone!! We are SO excited and we can’t wait to get started!!" the owners continued in their announcement.

The restaurant is known for serving American staples such as cheeseburgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, and ice cream.

Those running short on time will also be able to grab takeout from the eatery, as its phone lines recently began working once again.

Now that the restaurant is serving up delicious food again, it intends to keep it that way.

"We’re back for GOOD!!" the owners said.
