The incident took place in Hartford County at Southington High School early Thursday, Oct. 26 in Southington.

According to Lt. Keith Egan of the Southington Police, the school received a call a short while ago with a threat of gun violence inside the school. The call originated from an out-of-state number.

"The department has deployed additional officers to the school as an added precaution and the district and police department are currently working with the appropriate state and federal agencies to assess the credibility of the threat," Egan said.

Additionally, there is an added police presence town-wide at all schools at this time. This is precautionary only.
