Child Rescued From Underneath Vehicle After Crash Next To Port Chester High School
A young victim had to be rescued from underneath a vehicle after they became trapped as the result of a two-car crash next to a high school in Westchester. The incident happened on Wednesday, Nov. 22 just after 12:15 p.m., when a two-car crash occurred at Port Chester High School at the corner of Neuton Avenue and Hillcrest Avenue, according to the Port Chester Fire Department. Several fire departments had to race to an old hospital property in Westchester after a debris pile near a 12-story vacant building went up in flames. The incident happened on Tuesday, Nov. 7 around 3:30 p.m., when firefighters responded to the old United Hospital property in Port Chester in the area of Boston Post Road and High Street, where a debris pile behind a 12-story vacant residential building had ignited. Vehicle Fire Rages Near Greenwich Line: Photos
A raging vehicle fire in Westchester near the Fairfield County line kept crews busy for an extended amount of time. The blaze happened on Thursday morning, Aug. 17 in the village of Port Chester near the border with Greenwich, the village's fire department said. Because the car's fuel tank had become compromised, the effort to extinguish the flames became an "extended operation," according to the department. Former Fire Chief, Business Owner From Port Chester Dies
A village in Westchester is mourning the loss of a longtime business owner who rose to important positions in the community's fire department. Lifelong Port Chester resident Robert "Tee" Thalheimer died on Friday, Aug. 11 at the age of 76, according to his obituary. Thalheimer, the former Chief of the Port Chester Fire Department, was born in the village in 1946 and graduated from Port Chester High School in 1964. A tractor-trailer fire on a highway in Westchester caused a plume of smoke to soar into the air as the vehicle was fully engulfed. The incident happened on Monday, July 24 around 5:30 p.m. on eastbound Interstate 287 in Port Chester near Exit 11, according to the Port Chester Fire Department. Port Chester resident Bryan Santucci died on Thursday, Nov. 3 at the age of 45, according to his obituary. Authorities are investigating a fire that broke out at a Westchester County home over the weekend. Firefighters responded to a house fire on North Main Street in Port Chester at about 9:50 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 28, the Port Chester Fire Department said.
