Port Chester's Michael T. Smith, 84, Was A Gardener Extraordinaire Michael T. Smith, a longtime resident of Port Chester, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at Greenwich Hospital. CT Murder Suspect Nabbed By US Marshals Police in Fairfield County nabbed a man wanted for the murder of another man last month. Gerome Philips, age 23, of the Bronx, was arrested on Tuesday, June 8 by US Marshals and extradited to Waterbury, on Friday, June 11, said Sgt. Robert Davis of the Waterbury Police. Philips faces charges regarding the murder of 25-year-old James Smith of Waterbury on Thursday, May 13. Walt Smith, Stamford Firefighter For 41 Years, Dies At 88 A 41-year veteran of the Stamford Fire Department Walter 'Walt' Smith has died. A lifelong resident of Stamford, Smith died Sunday, June 30 in Norwalk at age 88. He was born in Stamford on July 31, 1930, one of two sons, to the late B. Frederick and Florence (Schaffer) Smith.  Smith attended Stamford public schools and graduated from Stamford High School.  Following in his father’s and brother’s footsteps, Smith went on to join the Stamford Fire Department and served as a career firefighter for 41 years before retiring in July of 1999.  Smith is survived by daughters, Kath…
