In District 150 Republican Michael Bocchino scraped through with a win by edging Democrat Jill Oberlander. It was the first state election for both of them and one that the Democrats hoped they could win and reverse 102 years of history of not winning any state representative seats.
This seat was open after current state Rep. Steve Walko moved out of the district and therefore did not seek re-election.
Bocchino has been active in Byram, where he has been president of the Byram Neighborhood Association.
Oberlander, a member of the town's Representative Town Meeting, has been vocal in questioning the town's leasing policies.
- In District 149, Republican Livvy Floren retained her seat, which was all but guaranteed after her Democratic opponent Marc Abrams suspended his campaign due to a sexual harassment lawsuit. Floren also represents part of Stamford. This is her seventh term in the House.
- In District 151, Republican incumbent Fred Camillo ran unopposed and was re-elected. He was first elected in 2008.
In Senate District 36, state Sen. L. Scott Frantz turned back a challenge from Green Party candidate Edward Heflin.
Frantz was first elected in 2008 when he replaced retiring Republican Bill Nickerson. The Senate district includes parts of New Canaan and North Stamford as well as all of Greenwich.
