Longtime Resident Robert Turvey Dies

Former Greenwich resident Robert H. Turvey died Sept. 2 after a short illness. Turvey was married to his wife Joyce for 50 years. He was born in London and moved his family to Old Greenwich in the late 1970s.

Turvey was known for his keen sense of humor. After living and working in Greenwich for many years, he and his wife retired to Virginia.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, are daughters Helen Ingraham, Clare Geaner and many grandchildren. Turvey was predeceased by his daughter Angela Wyman, who died in 2009 from scleroderma, an autoimmune disease. A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church in Old Greenwich on Friday at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Turvey's name to the Scleroderma Foundation.
