FAIRFIELD, Conn. Both of Fairfields public high schools were included among the best in the nation this week. Fairfield Ludlowe and Fairfield Warde both made Newsweeks list of the 1,000 best public high schools in the U.S. for 2012.
Ludlowe placed higher among Fairfields two schools, ranking 612th nationally. Warde placed 802nd on Newsweeks list. Neither school had appeared on the 2011 edition of the rankings.
Newsweek and its partner The Daily Beast based the rankings on surveys sent to administrators asking for student data. About 2,300 schools responded, according to the magazine.
The list ranks schools based on graduations and college attendance rates, Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses offered and taken by students, and scores on the SAT, ACT, AP and IB exams. A total of 25 schools in Connecticut, eight of them in Fairfield County, made the list.
