Lampe was born in Jersey City, N.J., in 1925, to Herman August and Edna Ashmore Lampe, he served in the Army Air Force from 1944 through 1946 and received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from University of Bridgeport in 1971. He was a long-time employee of the Dixon Sintaloy Co. in Stamford and in 1953 he and his wife, Edith moved to Fairfield to raise their family. He was a member and past master of the Ashlar Aspetuck Masonic Lodge of Easton.
Lampe is survived by his wife, Edith Soper Lampe; children, William Lampe of Bethel, Carol Portera of Fairfield and Susan Lampe-Wilson of Saxton's River, Vt.; and seven grandchildren.
Calling hours are Tuesday, April 29 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Fairfield Funeral Home of Edmund W. Dougiello, 36 South Pine Creek Road. Committal will be private.
