Wild Turkey Crashes Into Fairfield Store

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A break-in was reported at a Fairfield business Tuesday night. The suspect description called for a culprit that was about 2 feet tall and covered in feathers.

Fairfield Animal Control responded to reports of a turkey flying through a plate-glass window at a Post Road store Tuesday.

The bird apparently flew through the first-floor window of Shore Country Kitchens, located at 1735 Post Road, shattering the plate glass in the process, police said. Animal Control officers were dispatched to wrangle the bird, which was still inside the store flapping its wings when officials arrived.

The bird was corralled and later released outside the Fairfield Animal Shelter. It did not appear harmed in the incident. Shore Country Kitchens was closed at the time of the incident and no people were inside when the crash occurred.
