FAIRFIELD, Conn. – This week looks to be a healthy one for Fairfield, with talks on organic farming and eating right joining the town meetings and concerts on the calendar. Here’s a list of some of the events happening in and around Fairfield this week.

Monday, May 21

Garden Lecture: 7:30 p.m. Garden expert Eric Frisk will present a seminar on starting an organic vegetable garden. The event is free to attend, but registration is required. Register at GreenfieldHill18@aol.com. Greenfield Hill Grange, 1873 Hillside Road.

Representative Town Meeting: 8 p.m. Fairfield’s legislature holds its monthly meeting in the Board of Education conference room on the second floor. The meeting’s agenda is available here. 501 Kings Highway E.

Tuesday, May 22

Small Business Strategies: Google Business Apps: 7 p.m. The Fairfield Public Library’s ongoing series for small business owners teaches how to use Google’s free apps in your business. Located in the Rotary Room of the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road.

Bridgeport Bluefish vs. Southern Maryland Blue Crabs: 7:05 p.m. Bridgeport’s Atlantic League baseball team is back in town. Tuesday night is Kids Eat Free Night. Tickets range from $8 to $20 online or at the box office at the Harbor Yard Ballpark in downtown Bridgeport.

Town Plan and Zoning Commission: 7:30 p.m. Fairfield’s zoning board holds its bimonthly meeting. The meeting’s agenda is available here. Cafeteria of McKinley School, 60 Thompson St.

Board of Education: 7:30 p.m. Fairfield’s school board holds its regular meeting in the conference room on the second floor. The meeting agenda and background information are available here. 501 Kings Highway E.

Wednesday, May 23

Gardening and Outdoor Hobby Workshop: 10 a.m. to noon. Culinary nutritionist Heather Carey hosts a workshop on raising chickens and bees and growing organic vegetables at her home. Registration is $40 at Carey’s website. Twin Brooks Lane.

The Met in HD: “Götterdämmerung:” 5:30 p.m. The Quick Center for the Arts wraps up its series of German composer Richard Wagner’s operas, as performed live at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York via satellite. Tickets are range from $15 to $20 at the theater box office. Quick Center, 1073 N. Benson Road.

Thursday, May 24

Health Matters: Cholesterol: 7 p.m. Dr. Veronica Waks offers a lecture and Q&A session on keeping your cholesterol down at the Fairfield Public Library. The event is free in the Rotary Room of the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road

McLovins in Concert: 7:30 p.m. The Hartford-based band of high school students performs its jam-rock music. Tickets are $18 at the theater box office in advance, $21 at the door. Fairfield Theatre Company’s StageOne, 70 Sanford St.
