Town Needs Help on Biker, Walker Survey

With a packed parking lot at the train station in Fairfield and congestion clogging the roads throughout the day, many people in Fairfield have at least considered pulling their bike out of their garage or walking instead of driving. With that in mind, the Town of Fairfield and the Greater Bridgeport Regional Planning Agency are conducting a cost free, town-wide study of bicycle and pedestrian habits.

The study's goals are to assess current bicycle and pedestrian conditions in Fairfield and prioritize needs and develop strategies for making those modes of transportation and recreation activities safer and more accessible.

The town has issued a survey and is collecting responses until July 31. The questions are as follows:

1) If you currently bike/walk in Fairfield, what routes do you take and why?

2) Where else would you like to bike/walk in Fairfield and what prevents you from doing so?

3) Please list any suggestions you have to improve biking and walking in specific parts of Fairfield.

4) Would you support the use of existing taxpayer funds on bike routes and sidewalks?

Answers to these questions can be returned, along with your name, address and email address, in multiple ways:

By mailing responses to Lauran Lanham, First Selectman's Office, 725 Old Post Road, Fairfield, CT, 06824. By emailing responses to Lanham at llanham@town.fairfield.ct.us or by faxing Lanham at 203-256-3008. The survey is also available online at www.fairfieldct.org. Any questions should be directed to Lanham at 203-256-3030.
