A Fairfield man was arrested late Monday night after he allegedly stabbed a co-worker at the Greenhouse Grill in Fairfield Town Center. Witnesses said John Trano, 31, of Hibiscus Street, a cook at the restaurant, attacked a 33-year-old Bridgeport man who worked as a dishwasher at the same restaurant. The victim was rushed to St. Vincents Hospital in Bridgeport and was listed in stable condition.
Both Trano and the victim were at the restaurant for an employee Christmas party, and no customers were in the Grill at the time. At about 11:35 p.m. Monday, Trano pulled out a knife from his pocket and stabbed the victim once in his chest, just below his heart. Fairfield Police arrived to see other partygoers tending to the victim, attempting to stop the bleeding.
According to witnesses, the two were teasing each other all night, as they frequently did during the three months they worked together at the restaurant. Other co-workers told Fairfield Police that the relationship was good-natured before Monday nights incident.
Fairfield Police charged Trano with first-degree assault, reckless endangerment and second-degree breach of the peace. He was held on $100,000 bond and taken to Bridgeport Superior Court Tuesday morning.
