Fairfield Charity Asks for Book Donations

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The next time you head to Fairfield’s Sportsplex, you might want to pack a few books in your gym bag.

The Junior League of Eastern Fairfield County has placed book collection boxes at locations around the Sportsplex for its ongoing work to promote child literacy. Fairfielders are invited to bring new and gently used children’s books to help with the program.

The books collected will go to Read to Grow, a program run by United Way of Coastal Fairfield County. The organization distributes kids’ books to low-income households across the county. The Junior League already has collected more than 6,000 books for the cause, and hopes to add to that total in the next week.

Collection boxes will be at the Sportsplex (85 Mill Plain Road) until June 11. For more information or to locate a collection bin, contact Stephanie Morrison at stephmorrison1@gmail.com
