The following letter is from Kate Daniello and Bob Forcellina, founders of We the People of Fairfield. It concerns the disclosure this week that the Fairfield Metro rail station project will come in as much as $6.2 million over budget.
We the People (WTP) of Fairfield feel that Ken Flatto should be brought back to explain under what power as first selectman of the town he entered into such an agreement without notifying or getting approval from the other town boards. Richard Saxl should also be asked why he did not disclose such an agreement. Ken should explain the discrepancy in costs since, as of May 3 when he resigned, he told the acting First Selectman Sherri Steeneck and others that the project "was fine" and on budget. Mr. Flatto should explain what he and Richard Saxl have done to go after Black Rock Realty and Kurt Witeck since it is Mr. Witeck who left Fairfielders holding the bag and has done so in other states. WTP supporters expect the town to get remuneration in these situations. Once again, like the Madoff debacle, the town's leadership ALWAYS expects the taxpayer to foot the bill. Think again.
