Fairfield Gynecologist Stephen Rosenman Dies at 66

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Dr. Stephen D. Rosenman of Fairfield died May 27 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford, Conn., after a battle with cancer. He was 66.

An obstetrician and gynecologist, Rosenman was a senior partner of OB/GYN of Fairfield County.

Born on Sept. 4, 1945, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Bernard and Theresa Rosenman. He graduated from Hofstra University with a bachelor’s of science degree in biology.

Rosenman later attended medical school at the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium. He did an internship at Dalhousie University in Canada and a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Bridgeport Hospital.

He was in private practice in Bay Shore, N.Y., before becoming a founding and senior partner of OB/GYN of Fairfield County, where he remained for over 20 years. Subsequently, Rosenman served as chief of gynecology at Bridgeport Hospital for 10 years. He was a clinical associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Yale School of Medicine.

Rosenman also served as medical director of Integrative Medical Centers in Fairfield. He was co-founder and vice-president of PRN Relief International, where he spent the past decade traveling overseas to give free medical care. Rosenman was also a member of the Fairfield Medical Society and the Connecticut State Medical Society.  

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Arlette Rosenman; a son, Burt (Lisa) Rosenman, of Longmeadow, Mass.; a daughter, Joelle (John) Palmieri, of Southport; a brother, Mark Rosenman, of Washington, D.C.; and four grandchildren.

A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Lesko and Polke Funeral Home in Fairfield Center. Friends may greet the family from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. All other services will be private.
