The event marking its 20th year is set for June 10 at Fairfield Ludlow High School track.
A chairperson is someone in the community who has been affected by cancer in some way, either a survivor, caregiver, or family member of a survivor.
Survivors are the "heartbeat" of the event and the honorary chairs, "the face of that inspirational group," said Joseph Barbetta, event organizer.
“In sharing their stories of courage and hope they shine a light on the great progress we've made while reminding us of the work that lies ahead.”
Nominees must be willing to share their stories about cancer and be available for interviews with the media.
In addition, they are asked to speak at team meetings, a kick-off event, and at the Survivor and Caregiver reception, as well as Relay opening ceremonies and survivor lap at the Relay.
Nominations are due Feb. 1 by phone to 203-563-1514 or email to Lindsey.Hanley@cancer.org.
