"Fashionable Fairfield: A Jennifer Butler Fashion Show & Luncheon" will be held Thursday, April 6. A fundraiser for the museum, it coincides with the opening of "Talkin' 'Bout My Generation: Fairfield in the1960s and 1970s."
Butler fashions will be featured along with some of the vintage styles from the museum's collection. The exhibit features photos, memorabilia, and pop culture items from the era. Articles reflect fashion trends like mini-skirts, paper dresses, floral designs, and denim.
Butler will talk about the style and her fashion line at the luncheon.
"The style influences of the past are unavoidable in design, but I think it's important to take them somewhere else so they're not a rehash of the past, but are instead moving towards a new future,” Butler said.
Butler noted that, “advances in fabric technology and changes in lifestyle play big roles in why we do not live in fashion's past.”
“Not only are Jennifer's designs stunning, but her narration is a show in and of itself; she is so knowledgeable, creative and always witty," said Jen Hinkle, event chair. “We're in for a treat."
The luncheon and fashion show is from noon to 2 p.m. at the museum, 370 Beach Road, Fairfield. Tickets ($40) may be purchased here.
